So, I watched Chinatown today and decided I want to live in LA circa 1942 or whenever Double Indemnity was filmed. Sometimes I get confused because I write in this. I'm like, "Wait, am I still 20? Writing on a livejournal?" That's actually happening right now.

Father in Heaven, Thank you so much for the birth of your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you, also, for his death on the cross so as to cleanse us of our sins. Lord, thank you for the blessings you've given me, my friends, and my family. But, most importantly, I pray for the associate pastor of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, a Ron M. Cox (by the way, fuck that "Evangelical" bullshit. I've been attending there since I was two, it's Rivermont Presbyterian). He is profoundly mentally retarded. I pray that he finds his home at the Training Center warm and comfortable, especially during the holiday season. But most of all, I pray that when he goes out into society, when he drools on himself, when his tongue becomes so large due to his trisomy-21 that he slurs his speech, when he holds his hands funny, that people don't mock him. It must be awful to have Downs syndrome so badly. He also sounds like Kermit the Frog. Amen.

So, what is livejournal for but to gloat about one's college acceptances? And so, here's one: I have been accepted at Tulane University. Let's pray that Katrina doesn't come back and get all up in Nawleans's grill, because that would suck. I mean, it's my safety, and so it's kinda the last on the list, but nevertheless, it was a beautiful school. And the Garden District wasn't really damaged all that much. But, then again, I may not get into any other colleges. And so it's good that I have Tulane to fall back on. Ooh, Gilmore Girls is on! I have this one on DVD, but nevertheless.

"The breeze from the bayou keeps murmuring low." One of the singularly most eloquent and succinct statements I have ever heard muttered was concerning this song. My sweet, darling cousin, Faith, once said, regarding the aforementioned melody, "This song is lame." Amen, sister friend.

The most painful state of living is remembering the future. -Søren Kierkegaard With all due respect, Mr. Kierkegaard, the most painful state of living is not remembering the future. It's listening to Sheryl Crow. One of few 90's pop stars still finding themselves discussed on Extra, Ms. Crow's latest song, aptly titled "Good is Good", is an afront to human nature. Here's a sampling of the lyrics:
"Good is good And bad is bad" Oh really? Because I thought good was a hat. SHERYL CROW, YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOT. HOW DARE YOU LESSEN SOCIETY BY WRITING UTTER CRAP LIKE THIS AND THEN PLACING IT ON THE AIRWAVES. AND THAT LANCE ARMSTRONG INCIDENT? OH, HOW SORRY I FEEL FOR HIS FORMER SPOUSE. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO COME HOME TO THE KIDS AND TELL THEM OF THEIR FATHER'S ESTRANGEMENT. IT MUST'VE WENT SOMETHING LIKE Mrs. Armstrong: Kids, I'm sorry. Your father has left me. For the singer of "Soak Up the Sun". Oh god. There is no such thing as beauty in this world. In conclusion, SHERYL CROW, I FUCKING HATE YOU.

You know, usually I follow a similar format with all of my posts. A picture and then a cryptic reference to the picture. It's my thing. Do what you want to do. I can't tell you who to sock it to. But lately, I've found myself in a labyrinth of deceit, of blame. I feel as though I've past the rubicon of hope. And perchance I had, until I remembered:

WWR{TTNPRBFAMC}D?
What Would Reggie {the Take-No-Prisoners Raging Bull from All My Children} Do?
Let this question seep through your mind. Make a bracelet. Wear it 24/7. And then be a token Afro-American. And I promise I'll return to my regular format again.

"I married an angel." Ok, if you ever get the option to watch this movie (entitled I Married an Angel), don't. It is quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. And while I usually like bad movies, this just has no redeeming qualities (with the exception of the costuming).

"In the center, pianist Marcelle Meyer; from bottom to top: Germaine Tailleferre, Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honegger, Jean Wiéner; on the right: Georges Auric, Francis Poulenc, Jean Cocteau. Here pianist Jean Wiéner replaces Louis Durey who left the group in 1921." Look at them! They're rife with pretension! And yet!—the pretentious "indie" who pretends to know classical selects Beethoven, that deaf, blasé mule of a man, as The Cavalier Composer. I cannot understand why these self-named "indies" would choose something from the Romantic period instead of French avant garde music from the 30's. Not only was Le Groupe des Six founded by Jean Cocteau, the very paragon of annoying fin-de-siècle dandyism, Les Six found themselves above and thusly disassociated themselves from Erik Satie, the very paragon of pretension. Here's to Les Six for 2006! In selecting pieces for States this year, I have as follows: 1. Joseph Haydn's "Sonata No. 34 in E Minor" 2. Frederic Chopin's "Ballade No. 1 in G Minor" 3. François Poulenc's "Trois Pièces 3: Toccata" I would also like to make mention of the fact that I turned down Debussy's "Jardins sous la pluie" for the Poulenc, merely for time constraints (the Chopin Ballade takes up 9 minutes, as seen in The Pianist).

Why is it that the SATs are so dolphincentric? Humans rule, dolphins suck it. Due to someone wanting to kill everyone in the school on 5/1 (easily mistaken as 5/11), I am currently at home after a luncheon with Casey and a general application filling out fest. ( Promenade (taken from Alaina) )
